"My new toy"
I recently went to the penrith papercraft show with hubby in tow I spent way to much and hubby even more than me lol. I used to own a Klic n Kut when I had my store but I sold it due to size and it was just a little to technical for private use. But I have wished over and over again I hadn't sold it, I do have a cricut but hate being limited and not be able to slightly change images etc. So my lovely hubby brought me the new Klic n Kut Zing its a smaller version of what I had can do almost everything the other one could AND IT JUST ARRIVED, now off to find a spot on my desk to have a play. UMMM need to give the 17mths old something to do first lol.

THE COLOR ROOM &
ONCE UPON A SKETCH

This week I needed a little help to get motivated so I headed over to see this weeks Color Room Palette, so not the colours I would normally use but why the heck not. But to beef up the challenge I thought I would check out the Once Upon A Sketch site I have been hearing about and ended up combining the two challenges to really get me thinking.

I manged to find a blue & purple flower paper from MM that I had in my stash for at least 3yrs, added some blue misc paper and added purple embossed paper from Coredinations dots range.

I painted the background with white paint that I had watered down and added a few drops of glimmer mist and allowed it to run. I also glimmer misted a paper doily.

Flowers are from Green Tara and Manor House leaves from Green Tara

Once Upon a Time Sketch & Challenge

We would like you to create a layout based on this quote. You can interpret it ANY way you like. There is no wrong or right way to interpret this quote but your layout must incorporate something from this quote AND the sketch below. Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

Green Tara DT October

“Building The Family Castle”
By Linda Thompson

Welcome this time around I thought I would bring a little summer into our Spring. I spotted these wonderful little beach themed charms from Green Tara & had to do something with them.
Metalic Sea Charms
I painted the charms white and once dry sanded some of the paint off leaving the indentations with paint it gave them a more worn and weathered look.
Taking the Natural Jute ribbon I made a bow, I snipped the ends with scissors and then used my fingers to lightly fray the ends and added some white paint to age it a little.
I choose 2 colours in the cobweb ribbon and instead of cutting it I just ripped it apart this helped to fray the edges and give me random sized pieces. I used a texture paste with sand as the base on the page and pushed the pieces of cobweb ribbon into the texture paste here and there leaving some sticking up while others lay flat.
I wanted a big yellow flower but I didn’t have one so I used a mustard Damask flower from the new range and added some white paint to soften it a little as the gold didn’t quite work. Using a selection of other flowers including 7cm petals, roses & spring flowers adding a little white paint to the darker coloured flowers.
Adding a little string finished off the top of the page and a few random mini flowers thru the page.

“Making a Splash”
By Linda Thompson
Thought I would put some colour into the day, here I have used a couple of the new ribbons along with the new Laurel flower.
The Laurel flower wasn't quite the color I wanted so I sprayed it with glimmer chalk in yellow and added a little blue to the edges so it would blend in more with the colours of the page. I have also sprayed a couple of the other flowers to give a blue gardenia red tips & a red apple blossom sprayed with yellow softens the colour.

Using the new organza flower ribbon I trimmed one side close to the flowers to use as a decorative border.

I created a big bow using the new organza polka dot ribbon, I found the white dots were to bright so I soften them with some yellow spray then lightly wiping with a tissue removing the colour from the ribbon but it still stayed on the dots.

Taking a red flower spray I twisted it around a cup to create a circle. I then used enough rat tail cord that went around the same cup twice and added ribbon stiff to it, once dry I was able to twist it around the flower spray and crate 2 circles the same size as the spray.

Green Tara September DT work

I brought a set of 3 lamps quite cheap from Target a few months ago thinking I would just get something better at a later date, but while turning them on one night it came to me like a light bulb, I could alter them.
You could create this 2 ways, doing it the way I did which I must admit was a little hard but I found it easier to judge what it would look like at the end. Or you can decorate your paper while it is flat on your table and glue the completed item to the shade frame.
Starting with some paper I wrapped it around the lamp, it didn't quite go all the way around and I ended up with 2 joins so I just made sure they were both close to the back of the lamp and tried to match the paper up as best as I could, I used 450 quick dry glue to attach the paper directly to the shade but you could remove the old shade and attach the paper to the metal frame.
Using one of the wide laces Green Tara has on offer I glimmer misted them to create the perfect colour and attached it to the top of my shade I left a small part overlap the top of the frame to cover up the edge of the paper and give it a neater appearance, as it was a small side table lamp you would often see the top.
Then picking out my flowers, all Green Tara of course. I started arranging them using a removable adhesive, this allowed them to stay put but also make it easy to remove to move them around, once I was happy I glued them on once again using the 450 quick dry glue.
Then added pieces or ribbon, a small cut off from the lace, one of the new Green Tara Butterflies and paper swirls, then beaded trim to the bottom and finished it of with Green Tara silver sprays and the new Green Tara Silver Diamante Trim.
I left the stand alone as I want to add a wooden base but you can match flowers and embellishments down the stand and to the base.
